The Louisiana Conference of Catholic Bishops is greatly disappointed by the USSCT’s decision in June Medical Services v Russo.  This seminal pro-life case centered around requiring admitting privileges to local hospitals for those engaging in the destruction of human life via an abortion.  In this way, it was truly a case centered on authentic issues of women’s health as well as protection of the unborn.

The LCCB advocated for the passage of what was known as the “Safe Abortion Protection Act,” as authored by then state Representative and current state Senator Katrina Jackson during the 2014 legislative session.  It also joined the USCCB in an amicus brief for the ensuing USSCT case entitled, June Medical Services v. Russo.
